
Stamp of “Unity” Unveiled Celebrating 48th Anniversary of ASEAN
Bangkok 29 June 2015 – 10 ASEAN member countries wrapped up their own ASEAN Community commemorative stamps using the common design to reflect the “oneness” of the community which will officially begin on December 31, 2015. Each country’s stamp is printed its own country name and face value. To illustrate the concept of the design, ASEAN members’ flags are unified in a form of flower. In the background, the pigeon symbol was drawn to show the pacific aspect of the region. A handshake below the flags portrays the friendship and the golden ears of rice refer to basic agriculture, the main ASEAN way of life.
Among different denomination of the stamps, the highe¬¬st value goes to Laos stamp (13000 kip or 52.31 baht) whilst the lowest belongs to Malaysia stamp (50 cents or 4.22 baht). For Thailand, the face value is set to 15 baht, the first rate for worldwide delivery. The member countries will together launch the ASEAN stamps on August 8, 2015 which is the 48th anniversary of establishment of an ASEAN (The Association of South East Asian Nations). Additionally, all member countries are going to use the same postmark design, which is obtained from the contest as well, for the first day issued, On the postmark, the ASEAN emblem is noticed in the middle of the design, circled by 3 meaning lines which refer to the “three pillars” of ASEAN’s regional cooperation.
